Yes, in many places, but the rules depend on the home type and where it goes. Read Are Tiny Homes Legal in California?.
Wheels or Foundation?
A foundation tiny home can be an ADU almost anywhere ADUs are allowed. A tiny home on wheels is allowed only where a city or county has a rule for it, like the City of Los Angeles or unincorporated San Diego County. Compare them in Tiny Home on Wheels vs. Foundation.
Can I Put One in My Backyard?
Often, yes. Under state ADU law, local rules can't block an ADU of at least 800 square feet with 4-foot side and rear setbacks. See Putting a Tiny Home in Your Backyard.
Can I Put One on My Own Land?
Sometimes. Vacant land is harder than a backyard. Read Can I Put a Tiny Home on My Own Land? and, in San Diego County, Live Full-Time in a Tiny Home on Wheels.
What Does It Cost?
Zen's Alpine starts around $50K, the Mammoth around $75K and the Container around $40K. Every home is custom, so final pricing depends on your design. Site work, utilities, permits and delivery are extra. See How Much Does a Tiny Home Cost in California?.
